Two Xiaomi-Branded Devices Got Certified In China

November 18, 2015 - Written By Kristijan Lucic

We’ve seen Xiaomi announce a number of smartphones this year, but you can expect them to unveil a couple more of them before the end of the year. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is one of the most leaked devices lately. This smartphone is said to sport a metal build, and a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Now, Xiaomi is also expected to unveil their Mi 5 flagship before the end of the year, and the Mi Pad 2 tablet has also been mentioned quite recently.

That being said, Xiaomi has already announced an event for November 24th, and judging by a number of leaks, we’re expecting the company to unveil the Redmi Note 2 Pro at said event. Now, something interesting happened in China recently, two Xiaomi-branded devices got certified by the China Compulsory Certification (3C). One of said devices carries the 2015055 model number, while the other handset comes in two variants, 2015815 and 2015811. Unfortunately, the 3C certification did not reveal any spec info, so we cannot be sure which devices are these, but according to a separate rumor, we might be looking at the Redmi Note 2 Pro and two variants of the Mi 5 flagship.

Now, it is possible that Xiaomi plans to announce more than one device at the company’s November 24th event, we cannot be sure at this point. It is, however, probable that Xiaomi plans a separate event for the Mi 5 announcement, and considering they intend to implement Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC in there, that announcement will quite probably occur in December. The Redmi Note 2 Pro is almost certainly going to be announced on November 24th, so is it possible we might see the Mi Pad 2 unveiled as well? We’ll find out soon enough.

Speaking of the Redmi Note 2 Pro, let’s take a look at its specs. According to TENAA‘s (Chinese equivalent to the FCC) listing, that handset will feature a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (the 3GB RAM variant is also possible). MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit octa-core processor will fuel this smartphone, and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS installed on top of it. The 13-megapixel shooter will be available on the back of the device, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be located up front. The Redmi Note 2 Pro is expected to cost around 1,099 Yuan ($172), at least according to the latest rumor.
