This week, we have Thanksgiving on Thursday and then Black Friday the following day, at least here in the US. Which means plenty of us are traveling to be with our family for Thanksgiving, as well as cooking a ton of food and getting ready for Black Friday shopping (which actually starts before Thanksgiving, crazy right?). Here we’re taking a look at a number of Thanksgiving apps to help you get through this week.
Many of us know how to cook the Turkey, the gravy, stuffing, and everything else. But sometimes you want to try something new. And Cookpad is a great app for finding all sorts of recipes. These recipes are added by users like you and I. So you can actually upload your own recipes for others to use, not just this holiday season but all year round.
Perhaps the most popular cooking app on Android. This was also one of the first apps to support Android Wear last year. So you can follow the recipe on your wrist and leave your phone in your pocket. Fantastic right? Much like Cookpad, these recipes are curated by users, so there are hundreds of thousands of recipes for Thanksgiving available in the app.
If you want to get in the Thanksgiving spirit, here are some great wallpapers for your smartphone to really show the giving spirit. There are a number of Thanksgiving-themed wallpapers available in this app, all of which are optimized for your device. These are all high resolution, so no matter what device you have, this will still look good on them.
FlightAware Flight Tracker
With many traveling this week for the holidays to see their family and such, this app is going to be very handy. FlightAware allows you to track flights on any airline anywhere in the world. It typically gives you more up-to-date information than what the airline can provide in their app. It’s also good for tracking your inbound flight. Because if your inbound flight is late, most likely your flight will be late as well.
This is another great flight tracking app to use this week, and even in December as we get closer to Christmas and New Years. It can also track flights on any airline, as well as show you the weather. This way you can see whether to expect weather delays or not. Another nifty feature here is seeing whether the airport is having delays or not, and not just the airlines or the routes. Very helpful.
When traveling, it’s always a great thing to rent a car when you get to your destination. And using the Enterprise app is a great way to accomplish this. Allowing you to reserve a car, as well as find locations nearby. As most airports have Enterprise locations, this shouldn’t be a huge issue for most people. Enterprise has over 7000 locations worldwide.
National Car Rental
This is another great rental car company, who’s app can be a very helpful tool when traveling this week. National Car Rental’s app allows you to also find locations and reserve a car. Even pick the exact model you’d like to rent while you’re in town. In addition to all of that, you can also modify and cancel your existing reservation. Definitely helpful.
Delta is the largest airline in the world, so it’s more than likely you’re traveling on Delta this week. If you are, the Fly Delta app is a must have. It allows you to check in for your flight, choose your seats, view your status in Skymiles, as well as show your boarding pass. Delta’s app also shows your boarding pass on your Android Wear watch, which is pretty unique. It’s also lightning fast at telling you when your flight is boarding, as well as if its delayed.
Slickdeals: Black Friday 2015
After Thanksgiving, we have Black Friday. Which actually begins on Thanksgiving day. This app from Slickdeals is great for finding the latest Black Friday deals, so you know where to go before you leave the house. A lot of stores are opening at 5pm on Thanksgiving day. So after you eat your Thanksgiving dinner, you can go out and spend some money and get started on your Christmas shopping.
Black Friday 2015 Ads App
This app from Sazze is another great one for Black Friday, as it shows you ads from a number of retailers and stores nationwide. These stores include Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, Walmart, Sears, JCPenney, Target, Home Depot, Lowes and so many others. You can also get alerts for specific stores and categories of items. So if you’re looking for a good deal on a tablet, you can set it up to send you notifications for tablets that are on sale for Black Friday.
