Dynamic wallpapers with animated weather prediction have always been popular among live wallpapers. But there have always been limitations to what wallpapers you can use, and the battery usage of the app. Now there is a new app on the Google Playstore, going by the moniker Weatherback Weather Wallpaper, which does things better, and allows the user a lot more customizability in the process. It enables the user to add real-time weather effects to a static wallpaper, a much-requested feature in all live wallpaper apps. The app automatically updates the weather as it changes, and integrates the effects with the wallpaper quite quickly, making it into a live wallpaper with the user’s choice of wallpaper and effects, both.

The app supports both tablets and smartphones, covering a broad range of devices. The effects are top notch, with five effects coming in the free version, named – Sunny, Cloudy (customizable), Light Rain, Dark, and Dusk. The developer claims the battery usage of the app to be negligible, and app reviews by various users on the Play Store consistently prove the same. The effects are also customizable to a large extent, allowing the user to set random effects regardless of the actual weather outside.

The user can get more accurate weather settings, and customized locations by changing it in the settings menu, and free unlockers are being provided to every user who bought the Weatherback wallpaper app previously, making a good impression about support for the developer. The developer does agree that compatibility with custom launchers are low, because they use a non-standard aspect ratio that results in zooming in, and the issue is complex because every custom launcher interacts with wallpapers in a unique way. The effects are also static, to reduce battery consumption and create ultra-realistic effects. Some old devices may get a black screen as the effects take the time to load, and this is not a bug, according to the developer.

The app also includes a paid version that includes more effects like additional textures for light rain and rain, Stars with additional textures, Fog, Ice, Snow and Thunder.  The paid version is up for sale at the Playstore at a price of $1.99. The permissions used by the app are well detailed to put any user’s concerns about privacy at ease. The size of the app is about 10 MB, and it has already raked in a minimum of 10,000 downloads, and has an excellent average rating score of 4.0.
