LG V10 Could Have A Cover With Wireless Charging Support

The LG V10 was unveiled a couple of weeks ago, it is an interesting device as it is designed to be appealing to a fashion-aware audience and it is built to be durable as well. Additionally, it integrates features that had never been seen in a smartphone and the rest of its specs are worthy of a true flagship device. Over the 5.7-inch QHD Quantum display, there is a small secondary display with the same density that’s dedicated to show some information at all times, even when the main display is off. When the main screen is being used, the small screen can be used to access shortcuts of the most used apps or some controls within compatible apps without covering the main screen. On the left of the secondary display, there is not one, but two front facing cameras, one capable of taking standard 80 degree pictures and the other has a wider angle lens capable of taking 120 degree pictures.

The phone is made with a stainless steel frame and the patterned back is made from a silicon-like material called Dura Skin, allowing the back cover to be removed so that features that are becoming hard to find on a smartphone like a Micro SD card expansion slot and a removable battery are still present on the V10. The phone includes a 3,000 mAh battery, which is already on the larger side, but the company will apparently release a cover to make this phone compatible with Qi wireless charging, which is not natively supported.

The wireless charging battery cover CPR-120 has already been certified by the Wireless Power Consortium and a person related to LG Electronics said: “We are currently preparing battery covers for V10 that have built-in wireless charging function for foreign markets first. We have not yet decided on when we are going to release them in South Korea”. This is rather strange, as the availability of similar accessories for past LG flagships has been quite limited, but perhaps they realized that the infrastructure is adequate now. This comes from LG Innotec, which has the technology to make wireless charging perform really good.
