With both the Nexus devices this year (Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P) coming out with a USB Type-C connector, and a handful of other devices already out. It’s time to check out some USB Type-C accessories. Making the switch from Micro USB to Type-C is something that’s coming quickly. So let’s take a look at a few of the USB Type-C accessories already available.
iOrange-Eâ„¢ 6.6 Ft (2M) Braided USB Type-C Cable
If you’ve ordered or picked up a Nexus device this year, then this is a must. iOrange-E has a 6.6-foot USB Type-C cable here which will work for charging your Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P with ease. The other end is a USB Type-A so that you can still plug it into your existing chargers and ports.
Cable Matters® USB 2.0 Type C (USB-C) to Type A (USB-A)
Here’s another USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, this time from Cable Matters. Again, this one will work with any of your existing wall chargers, car chargers and even the USB ports on the side of your laptop. Which is great for easy data transfer or unlocking the boot loader.
Orzly® Multi-Colour Value Pack of USB 2.0 Type C (USB-C) to Type A (USB-A)
If you need or want more than one cable, here’s a great four pack of Type-C to Type-A cables here from Orzly. They are available in multiple colors as well. Making it easy to have them stashed around the house or even at the office, so you can charge your phone anywhere.
USB-C to Micro USB Adapter
Or you could just pick up an adapter to make your micro USB cable a USB Type-C cable. It works just fine as well. Here we have one from TechMatte, just put this on the end of your micro USB cable and you’re all good to go.
USB Type C Car Charger
LightningFast also has a USB Type-C car charger here. Now the cable is embedded, but there is also a standard USB port there which can be used for another USB Type-C cable or even just a standard USB cable, for those that still have the regular micro USB cords.
SanDisk 32GB Flash Drive for Type-C
Need some extra storage? SanDisk has you covered with their 32GB flash drive which includes USB Type-C connector on one end. This is a 32GB model, but there are also other capacities available from SanDisk. This works pretty much the same as USB OTG.
Tronsmart 36W Dual Rapid Ports Car Charger
Here we have another car charger with an embedded USB Type-C connector. So you can charge your smartphone with ease. But there is also a USB port there to allow for another phone to be plugged in and start charging. Definitely a great feature to have.
CHOE 30W USB 2.0 to Type C Quick Charge 2.0 Adaptive Fast Charger
CHOE also has a car charger here. This one is a bit different though, we have two USB ports, and it comes with a USB Type-C to Type-A cable. So you can use this for microUSB devices or USB Type-C devices. Making it backwards compatible. Really a brilliant idea here.
Cable Matters® USB 2.0 Type C (USB-C) Cable
Cable Matters also has a USB Type-C to Type-C cable here, very similar to what you will get from the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. However, this means it will not work with the regular chargers that you already have around the house, unfortunately.
