East Side Games Working On Trailer Park Boys Title

October 25, 2015 - Written By David Steele

We have covered how celebrity-focused games have been something of a hit for a number of developers and there are a few reasons for this, including how people like to follow another person rather than a franchise or an idea. We’ve seen Kim Kardashian‘s Hollywood game racking up the millions after a successful release in the Google Play Store, and this particular title has been diligently kept up to date by the developer Glu Mobile. Because Glu have kept the game up to date with relevant updates from Kim Kardashian, so it has retained fan interest for a number of months now.

However, games based on celebrities do not necessarily have to follow the glamourous end of the scale as news recently shows. Canadian developer East Side Games is working on a Trailer Park Boys game, featuring Ricky, Julian and Bubbles from the show along with a number of Sunnyvale Trailer Park’s other residents. East Side Game’s Trailer Park Boys producer, Jim Wagner, said this on the matter: “We’re all fans of the show, and we’re working closely with the Boys to deliver a game we know fans, as well as people who may not be familiar with the franchise are all going to love.”

It’s not yet clear how the game will work or indeed how it may appeal to those who do not like the series, as Trailer Park Boys has become something of a love-it or hate-it show. We do not know the exact release date other than it will be out “in early 2016,” and is likely to be released for both the iOS and Android platforms. Given Trailer Park Boys’ recent revival, perhaps related to their new home on Netflix, combined with the success of the Kardashian game it is no surprise that a digital rendition of the game is on the cards. East Side Games’ pedigree includes games such as Idle Paws: Kitty Clicker, Munchie Farm, Pot Farm (the flagship title) and Don’t Touch Ranger Dick. The company proclaims that it is proudly independent and profitable, based in the Gastown area of Vancouver, Canada.
