BLU Announces the Energy X & Studio Energy 2

October 15, 2015 - Written By Alexander Maxham

We could all do with some more battery life right? We never really have enough in our smartphones. BLU agrees. Earlier this year they announced the BLU Energy which featured a 5,000mAh battery and have announced a few others since then in that Energy line. Now, BLU Is here with the Energy X and the Studio Energy 2. Both of which are available exclusively from Amazon beginning today. The Energy X is going to be available for $109 with the Studio Energy 2 coming in at $179. Now these are off-contract prices and both devices will work with AT&T and T-Mobile.

The BLU Energy X comes with a beautiful looking 5.0-inch HD IPS display, powered by a Quad-core 1.3GHz processor inside along with 1GB of RAM. It also sports a 8MP camera around the back and a 2MP front-facing shooter. All powered by a 4000mAh battery inside that is non-removable. Additionally it’s running on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Inside we have 8GB of storage, which leaves us with around 3.63GB of usable space out of the box, and there is no microSD card slot on this one.

On the flip side, the BLU Studio Energy 2 is quite the looker, on the spec sheet. We have a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED Display here, also powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz processor along with 1.5GB of RAM. There is also a 8MP camera around back and a 5MP front-facing shooter. This one is powered by a larger 5000mAh battery, and it features 4G LTE. While the Energy X comes with just HSPA+. This does have 16GB of storage, with a little over 9GB available out of the box and a microSD card slot that supports up to 64GB of storage. However, this does come with Android 5.0 Lollipop instead of Android 5.1. A slight difference, but for some that’s going to be quite noticeable. Usually with these cheaper devices, we don’t see OS upgrades, so you’ll likely be stuck with that version for the life of the device.

Both are pretty nice devices, especially when you look at their prices. We do have both models in hand and will be doing full reviews of them in the very near future. So if you’re interested in either of these devices, you’ll definitely want to stay tuned for that.
