UMi is not one of the biggest Chinese smartphone manufacturers, but certainly is one of the more active ones. This company has been releasing devices quite frequently lately. We’ve already reviewed the UMi eMax and UMi Iron handsets recently, and the company is preparing to launch the UMi eMax Mini soon as well. That being said, we’ve just received some info regarding a new UMi-branded handset that will reach the market soon, and this certainly is an interesting device, read on.

According to the info sent to us by our source, the company is planning to launch what they call a ‘mid-range phone killer’ soon. This device will be called UMi Fair, and it will cost only $99, hence the name. Now, we don’t have much spec info when it comes to this phone, but we do know it will sport a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, which is interesting considering how much this thing costs. We do hope that UMi will manage to squeeze in really solid specs in there for this price, especially considering they call it the ‘mid-range phone killer’. That quote alone is very promising, and it remains to be seen what will its specs look like in the end.

Now, if you take a look at the provided image (above), you’ll get to see the partial render of the device. Judging by what we see here, the UMi Fair will be a really, really sleek device. It seems like it will sport a metallic trim around the device, and extremely thin bezels with a 2.5D curved glass on top of the display. The fingerprint scanner is also visible on this image, along with the dual-LED flash and the camera sensor. If you look closer, you’ll also notice the Android Lollipop teaser in the image as well.

So, to cut the long story short, this phone seems very promising, its design is very minimalistic and kind of sleek, at least judging by this render. It remains to be seen what will the phone look like in real life, and we’re also waiting to hear more about its specifications. Either way, stay tuned, we’ll report back as soon as something pops up.
