2015 has certainly been the year of the interesting smartphones. With the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and the YotaPhone 2 all grabbing the headlines for their more unique form factors. Well, they are not the only unique devices out there and the last few weeks has seen another unique option grabbing its fair share of the headlines. This is the Turing Phone from TRI. Those who read the original announcement will remember that the Turing Phone is unique due to it being the first device which is made of liquid metal (Liquidmorphium). Not to mention, for those worried about security, this one is designed to be as secure as possible and even claimed, unhackable

TRI (otherwise known as Turning Robotic Industries) announced that from the end of July, the Turing Phone would be available to pre-order. Well, it was a couple of days later than expected, but the company had now confirmed that reservations are now being taken for their smartphone. It is worth pointing out that these are reservations and not actually pre-orders. As such, and similar to what OnePlus has recently done with OnePlus 2, reservations are a way for the company to gauge interest and for the end-user to let them know that they are interested without having to fork out the cost upfront for the pre-order. Of course, this does not mean that you won’t have to still fork out the money upfront when the reservations do indeed turn to pre-orders, but for now you can sign-up if you are interested in picking up a Turing Phone.

Most of the details were confirmed back when they announced the pre-orders and these have now been confirmed again. As such, the Turing Phone is available to reserve in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants. Not to mention, the device is also available in three color variants, beowulf, pharaoh and cardinal. In terms of price, the most affordable option (16GB) comes in at $610, while the 64GB will be available for $740 and the 128GB variant will cost $870. So, for any variant of the device, it will essentially cost a flagship price. Additional features include a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, 3GB RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front facing camera, 3000 mAh battery and the device comes running on Android 5.1.
