New Mod Adds Stereo Sound To The Samsung Galaxy Note 5

Media consumption is one of the many features in which current smartphones are used for. Quality in their components is getting much better, for instance, displays are getting larger, they are also getting higher resolutions, they reproduce better colors and they have better viewing angles. This makes it more pleasant to view pictures and videos, plus sharing them is now easier. Gaming has also been improved as we can appreciate the high-definition graphics, making them more immersive than ever. Most users plug in their headphones for listening purposes because even as the speakers have been getting louder, they still don’t provide a great audio experience. Companies like HTC have tried to address this and they have integrated front-facing stereo speakers with BoomSound in some of their recent flagship offerings, providing a decent audio experience without needing to connect them to additional hardware.

Samsung typically positioned their speakers on the back, but with the new design of their recent flagships, they have been relocated to the bottom, next to the microUSB port. Which often gets covered by the hand while playing games or holding the device in a landscape position to watch videos. The company has opted not to include a second speaker for stereo sound. The recently announced Galaxy Note 5 integrates some of the most powerful specs out there, so needless to say that multimedia performance will be a very good experience. Now, a mod has been created on XDA which allows the earpiece work as a second speaker, providing stereo sound.

The mod was created by sshafranko and he mentions that it has been tested on the Note 5 locked for T-Mobile, so he is not sure if it will work on any other version of the device. Since the earpiece was not designed to work as a speaker, it may not have great audio capabilities, but the overall experience still should be a little more immersive. The device must be rooted for this purpose, so this solution is meant for more experienced users who should install at their own risk. Instructions for downloading and installing can be found through the source link below and some users report that it also working on the Sprint variant. If it doesn’t work on your device, you can always revert back to stock. So if you would like this kind of functionality and know what you are doing, hit the link below to find out more.
