New Xperia Devices Could Still Include The Snapdragon 810

A lot of phones are expected on the second half of the year, some are variants of current flagships and some others are new versions of smartphones that were released last year. Sony is expected to launch a new flagship which is supposed to change more aspects than what the current flagship, the Xperia Z3+ (or Xperia Z4 in Japan) did to its predecessor. There are rumors that the new Xperia Z5 lineup could launch in September, including the flagship phone, its Compact variant and another one with a larger screen, possibly called Xperia Z5 Ultra.

Also, some more phones are supposed to debut relatively soon, but these handsets are rumored to have very large screens and while their specs don’t look too bad, they won’t carry the best ones available in contrast to what is expected from the Xperia Z5 lineup. Regarding processors, the best offering from Qualcomm is currently the Snapdragon 810, despite all the controversy generated around the high temperatures it reaches when using some CPU-intensive apps. The Xperia Z3+ and some other phones are supposed to use a revision of this processor, but the results were still not satisfactory.

Now, some User Agent Profiles (UAPs) for some future Sony devices have leaked providing some details about them. The model number of the new flagship model is supposed to start with E66 and two more numbers would indicate the variants of the phone, the models E6603, E6633, E6653, and E6683 were spotted. This phone will have a Full HD screen and Android 5.1.1 is on board, plus, the processor that will power it is the MSM8944, which belongs to the Snapdragon 810. Another UAP was found for the E5803 and the E5823, which could possibly belong to the Compact version as it sports a 720p screen, but the OS and processor are the same as the ones found on the other phone.

This raises the question if the new phones will be a substantial upgrade, especially for the flagship model, which has similar specs. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 820 is not supposed to be included in devices until next year, so this may be the best components available. Sony is also rumored to change its naming scheme, so these two phones could be the rumored S70 and S60 that we reported recently.
