There is nothing more frustrating than have your smartphone beep at you to let you know you only have 15-percent left of your battery power.  This is especially annoying if you are hiking, climbing or traveling when you are away from a power outlet or wireless charging pad.  The next best thing to have is a power pack of some sort to charge you smartphone while you are using it or stored in your backpack.  They come in all shapes and sizes – from a small Motorola 1200mAh Power Pack Micro all the way up to a 12000mAh Giant+ size…and larger.  iHome Cases just released a new one called the PowerClip Carabiner Power Pack, ranging in size from 2600mAh as the smallest to a middle size of 5200mAh to the largest 7800mAh size.

For those of you that do not familiar with a ‘carabiner,’ it is the type of quick clip that a mountain or rock climber uses to quick connect lines together to clip on to an anchor in the stone…they have been developed into a keychain affair. You can quickly clip them onto a knapsack, backpack, handbags, duffel bags, carry-on bags, keychains or your luggage or briefcase, using the handy carabiner clip – it comes pre-charged and ready to go.  You can charge the PowerClip itself in any standard USB port.  Simply plug your smartphone into the PowerClip to recharge your battery or to continue to use your phone while texting or talking…ensuring yourself that you will have ample power.

The PowerClip is available in 2600mAh (model CT4010) for $29.99, the 5200mAh (model CT4012) for $39.99 and 7800mAh (model CT4014) for $49.99, with the mAh denoting milliampere-hour.  They come with a LED power indicator that lets you know just how much charge is left. The PowerClip can be used to recharge your smartphone or as a power bank.  Say a new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has a 2600mAh battery, a 7800mAh PowerClip would be able to charge your phone almost three times (2800mAh x 3 = 8400mAh).  As a power bank, the 2,600 mAh clip allows for 12 hours of web browsing, 9 hours of talk time or 8 hours of video, the 5,200 mAh allows for 24 hours of web browsing, 18 hours of talk time or 16 hours of video, and the 7,800 mAh allows for 36 hours of web browsing, 27 hours of talk time or 24 hours of video.

The PowerClip is compatible with most smartphones and tablets with universal connectors.  It comes in five colors – black, green, navy, grey and red – to accommodate anybody’s taste.  They are available at Walgreens, Sports Authority and Fred Meyer as well as on iHome’s own website.
