Gionee E8 was the company’s most talked-about device in the last couple of weeks, which is not that odd considering this is the company’s flagship. That’s not the only Gionee-branded device that has been mentioned quite a lot lately, Gionee Marathon M5 has also managed to attract a lot of attention from press lately, mainly because Gionee released quite a few teasers touting its battery life. Well, this Chinese smartphone manufacturer has just announced the Gionee M5 at during their event in China, read on.

The Gionee Marathon M5 sports a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 64-bit quad-core SoC and is made out of metal. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of the Marathon M5, and is flanked by an LED flash. On the front side of this device, you’ll find a 5-megapixel camera. The Gionee Marathon M5 will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed and Gionee’s Amigo OS on top of it. The device measures 152 x 76 x 8.5mm, while it weighs 213 grams.

Now, the most interesting part of the Marathon M5 is the phone’s battery, or should I say batteries. The Gionee Marathon M5 comes with two 3,010mAh batteries on the inside (6,020mAh overall), which makes it somewhat unique. The Innos D6000 also sports 2 batteries on the inside, for example, but the usage is somewhat different. Anyhow, the company’s promises that the Marathon M5 will be able to lay around on standby for up to 62 hours even if the phone has only 5% of battery power left. The phone is equipped with fast dual charging chips, and you can use it to power other devices. This is also a dual-SIM handset, and offer 4G LTE connectivity.

If you take a look at the provided image, you’ll see that the Gionee M5 Marathon looks rather sleek, even though its design is nothing to write home about. The phone sports three capacitive buttons below the display: overview, home and back keys, respectively. Its corner are rounded, and the bezel on the sides is barely visible. The volume rocker keys and power / lock button are placed on the right side of this device. The Gionee Marathon M5 comes in Black, White and Gold color options, respectively.
