The YotaPhone 2 has seen fairly wide success in the countries where it’s sold, and just earlier this year Yota Devices announced that they would be bringing the YotaPhone 2 to North America via an Indiegogo campaign. The campaign is already officially live with phones shipping to backers at an estimated August time frame. Although the YotaPhone 2 isn’t quite yet available for purchase in the states, it’s already been released in plenty of other international regions, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to find out that Yota Devices may already be working on successors to the YotaPhone 2.
According to latest details, Yota Devices is confirmed to be working on two new phones to replace the YotaPhone 2, appropriately named the YotaPhone 2c and the true next-gen device for their lineup, the YotaPhone 3. The YotaPhone 2 is packing some decent premium specifications like the Full HD display and the Snapdragon 801 processor, but the YotaPhone 3 is poised to bring in some upgrades with more RAM, (possibly 3GB as the YotaPhone 2 already carries 2GB) a more powerful processor, as well as a better quality camera and a thinner profile. As for the YotaPhone 2c, this is a device meant to focus on the market of consumers who liked what the YotaPhone 2 had to offer but wanted just a little bit less out of a smartphone while keeping the dual screen design that made it unique. Yota Devices says that a YotaPhone 2c is “definitely in the works” but didn’t divulge any specific dates on when consumers might be able to purchase it.
While Yota Devices seem to have confirmed the existence of both the YotaPhone 3 and the YotaPhone 2c, confirmations that the two devices are being worked on are all that’s available at the moment. Yota did mention however that timing of the release on both new phones depends on how well the YotaPhone 2 is received. As it has already seen success in other markets, it’s very possible that the success in the North American market could play a pivotal role on the launch timing of Yota’s two new phones. Yota also says that if things with the YotaPhone 2 go well, the YotaPhone 2c could possibly see a launch sometime this year.
