Tiptop Pro Is Coolpad’s New ‘Bezel-Less’ Mid-Ranger

Coolpad has been all over the news lately. This China-based company has announced their arrival to India, and that’s not all, Coolpad and Qihoo 360 have joined forces and actually formed a company together which is called QiKU. Coolpad news don’t end there, not by a long shot. I don’t know if you recall, but earlier this month a rather interesting render leaked, allegedly showing off the Coolpad Tiptop 2. That render was really eye-catching considering there were basically no bezels on the sides, and we were wondering when the company plans to announce the handset. Well, that has just happened, read on.

The handset isn’t called Tiptop 2 though, Coolpad has opted for the Tiptop Pro naming instead. This device features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of in-built storage. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor and it offers 4G LTE connectivity as well. The 13-megapixel camera (f/2.0 aperture) is available on the back of the Tiptop Pro, and the device comes with Android 4.4.4 KitKat pre-installed with Coolpad’s UI on top of it. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera available on the front side of this device, for your selfies, video calls and what not. The device also offers access to a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, which seems to be a common thing when it comes to Chinese OEMs. This handset is only 5.3mm thick and it will be available in Gold and Silver color options.

The Tiptop Pro has some black bars on the sides, but those black bars are extremely thin and the device looks really sleek despite those. The handset offers three capacitive buttons below the display: recent apps, home and back button, respectively. We still don’t know how much will the Tiptop Pro cost, but you can expect it to be rather affordable, especially considering the specifications. If rumors are to be believed, the handset will cost around 1,500 Yuan ($242), though a 1,000 Yuan ($161) price has also been mentioned, so who knows. There you have it folks, there are a number of images of this handset available in the gallery down below in case you’d like to check those out.
