LG G4 In Pieces, LG’s New Flagship Gets Dismantled

May 20, 2015 - Written By Kristijan Lucic

LG has joined the likes of HTC and Samsung by announcing their new flagship, the LG G4. Samsung and HTC have announced their flagship offerings for this year during the Mobile World Congres (MWC) in Barcelona back in March, and LG has decided to hold a separate event in order to announce their new offering. The LG G4 resembles the G3 in terms of general design, but it’s still easy to distinguish. The G4, unlike the G3, is slightly curved, not as much as the G Flex / G Flex 2, but enough to notice. The G4 also comes in several different back cover variants (leather, ceramic and plastic), and offers improved spec sheet compared to its predecessor.

The LG G4 is already available on sale in select parts of the world, and other markets will follow soon. That being said, the handset has already been torn down, and it’s rated 2 out of 3 stars as far as repairability goes. Anyhow, if you’d like to check out a bunch of teardown images of this handset, check out the gallery down below. The source says that the dismantling was performed in 15 minutes, and that they didn’t find anything out of the ordinary on the inside. It seems like every internal component listed in LG’s official spec sheet is present and accounted for. This is not the easiest handset to dismantle though, but not that difficult either, certainly not to an extend of the new One M9.

LG’s new flagship sports a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Quantum LCD display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core processor which ships with an Adreno 418 GPU. On the back of this handset you’ll find a 16-megapixel OIS camera (f/1.8 aperture), which is flanked by a dual-LED, dual tone flash and LG’s Laser Autofocus. The 8-megapixel snapper is available on the front side of the device, and the phone comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed with LG’s very own UX 4.0 on top of it. The 3,000mAh removable battery on the inside and 4G LTE connectivity is available here as well. The LG G4 measures 148.9 x 76.1 x 9.8mm and weighs 155 grams.
