Micromax is one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in India. This company has partnered up with Cyanogen a while back and also opened a separate company called YU. This India-based company is owned by Micromax, but is operating completely on its own, which is a fact confirmed by both Micromax and YU. That being said, YU has already announced one device back in January, the YU Yureka. That thing is powered by Cyanogen OS and offers a decent set of specs considering its price point, though its availability is really limited, it’s available only in India at the moment.

The company has been working on their second smartphone for quite some time now. The company has called that whole operation “Project Caesar” and has asked its consumers to choose between five possible names: Yuphoria, Yuknight, Yunicorn, Yunity and Youth. Well, the consumers voted and the phone will be called YU Yuphoria once the company announces it. A lot of people participated in this poll, and the device is expected to launch soon. This handset will be a bit more expensive than the Yu Yureka, at least if reports are to believed. We still don’t have that much information regarding the specifications of this device, but according to some leaks, this handset will also sport a 64-bit processor and 2GB of RAM just like the Yureka. 16GB of internal storage has also been mentioned several times, and Cyanogen OS 12 based on Android Lollipop will come pre-installed on this handset.
“Yuphoria represents zeal, enthusiasm and passion which reflects what YU is committed to bringing to the consumers through innovating and reinventing technology,” said the company. As a side note, the company’s currently available Yureka handset features a 5.5-inch 720p IPS LCD display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core SoC and is coming pre-installed with Cyanogen OS on top of Android. This handset also sports 13 and 5-megapixel camera sensors on its back and front, respectively. The Yu Yureka costs Rs. 8,999 ($144) in India.
