Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Coming To Verizon’s Galaxy S4 Units Later This Week

April 29, 2015 - Written By Kristijan Lucic

Samsung Galaxy S4 is by no means a new device, this was Samsung’s flagship back in 2013. Despite that fact, this is still a really capable device and this Korea-based company has decided to roll out the Android Lollipop update for it. This update has been available in many areas all over the world, and Verizon Wireless will roll it out later this week to the Galaxy S4 units which were purchased from them. Verizon has said that the rollout will begin later this week, but it might take some time while it reaches your handset, of course. This is the second time in two days that we’re talking about the Galaxy S4 update, for those of you who missed yesterday’s news, the Google Play Edition of this device will be getting the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, which are great news for those of you who own that handset.

The Android Lollipop update will bring you a number of new features and a different look to Samsung’s TouchWiz UI. Google has changed a lot of things under the hood here and Android Lollipop looks quite different in terms of the design, but you won’t notice those changes all that much because TouchWiz still looks rather similar to the KitKat iteration. You will, however, get a bunch of Material Design elements, more fluid animations, slightly different looking icons, new features, etc. Verizon Wireless will be rolling out the LRX22C.l545VRUG0CI version of the software, which is Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Galaxy S4 features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display along with 2GB of RAM and 16, 32 or 64GB of internal storage. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 quad-core chip or Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa 5410 octa-core SoC, depending on the market. The 13 and 2-megapixel cameras are available on this device, on its back and front, respectively. Android 4.2.2 JellyBean originally arrived on the S4, and the device also sports a 2,600mAh battery on the inside. The Samsung Galaxy S4 measures 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9mm and weighs 130 grams.
