Oppo is one of the many smartphone manufacturers based in China, though it’s fairly easy to differentiate Oppo’s devices from the competition. Oppo puts great focus on their hardware, and really does make great looking, premium-built handsets. They’re certainly not the only Chinese smartphone OEM to do it, of course, but they do have that somewhat distinctive look, especially if we’re talking about the Oppo N3 which sports that huge auto-rotating camera on the top, or the device we’ll talk about today, the Oppo R1C.
The Oppo R1C was launched back in January, and this device really is rather nice to look at, perhaps even the best looking Oppo handset to date. This handset is made out of metal, though it sports a glass panel on the back, a sapphire glass panel as the matter a fact. This panel is really nice to look at, and the coloring on it is achieved through UV embossing of the layer below the glass itself, so that the light reflects differently in each area, which creates a really nice looking back panel.
This smartphone has launched in China initially, but it is soon (April) going to arrive to Europe under the name Oppo R1x. This handset sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). The Oppo R1C / R1X is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz along with an Adreno 405 GPU for graphics processing. 13-megapixel camera (Sony IMX214, f/2.0 aperture) is located at the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front. 2,420mAh battery ships with this device, and Android 4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed on the Oppo R1C with Oppo’s Color OS on top of it. This device is only 6.85mm thick, which only contributes to its nice and sleek look. The device also sports 4G LTE connectivity and has two SIM slots.
There you have it, this handset will arrive in Europe next month under the name Oppo R1x. The device will be available in Sapphire Blue and Ice White color options. We still don’t know the exact launch date, nor how much will this handset cost, but will let you know as soon as we get some additional details.
