Continuing on with new changes found in the latest version of Android to grace devices, Android 5.1 Lollipop, Google has made things just a little bit easier for users who have a desire to spend any amount of their time in the About section of their device to gather the data within. Essentially what Google has done is simply consolidated some things into a couple specific categories so that the information is a little easier to consume. If you’re asking yourself what information we’re talking about, we’ll tell you. We’re referring to all the data that revolves around the IMEI and the SIM card.

Before the Android 5.1 release, the list of information in the about section had quite a few pieces of data that may or may not have been easy information to read, or otherwise comprehend what it related to. Now that Android 5.1 Lollipop is here, another minor but insightful change from Google takes any information in the about section that could relate to the SIM card or the IMEI and has bunched them up into two sections, called SIM status and IMEI information, which users can tap on to enter into this new section with all the SIM card related data like network, signal strength, operator info, roaming etc. and in the IMEI section there are simply two pieces of data, the actual IMEI number and IMEI SV.

Some of this information will mean absolutely nothing to many users. In fact, those users will probably never have cause to venture into this part of the phone in the first place. For the individuals that do though, and for anyone that has ever had a curiosity to look at this data, you can find delight in the small pleasure that Google has seen fit to make things just a little bit simpler here. Big features and awesome, new functionality are always exciting, but let’s not forget that it’s the little things that count. The small stuff shows attention to detail and even the littlest things need a little love. In the end, it’s paying attention to these small details that makes the overall whole of Android’s UI that much more refined.
