Bell, just put up on their site – “The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are coming soon to Canada’s largest LTE network.”  We certainly expect most of Canada’s carriers will carry the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, but Bell was the first one to make the announcement.  Both Galaxy S models will be available in 20 countries on April 10, but what date Bell will actually begin stocking and selling the devices is still unknown…as is pricing. There website gives you a spot to: “Register now to receive more information about the upcoming launch of the latest Samsung Galaxy devices from Bell.” From their website page (see below), it looks as if they will offer the White Pearl and Black Sapphire models.

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were announced today at MWC and it turns out that while it is a total rework of the previous Galaxy S5, it is unmistakably a Samsung.  The Galaxy S6 models have a full metal frame, but now offer a Gorilla Glass 4 back – and for a real change of pace for Samsung – it is a sealed back, non-removable battery and no memory expansion from the 32GB, 64GB or 128GB models.

The newest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is running under a reworked version of Samsung’s TouchWiz – highly criticized in the past for being too ‘heavy’ and showing up as lag to some users.  The new TouchWiz is more in line with Google’s new Material Design and much of the old Samsung bloatware has been removed with a more watered down version of TouchWiz.  The user can even customize parts of it like the wallpapers and icons and there is also a Quick Launch feature for accessing the camera in under a second.  Samsung was criticized for the length of time it took for the camera to respond, even when focusing and they made a real effort this year to upgrade the camera area. Another big change is in the fingerprint scanner – in the past, the user had to slide their finger over the home button and it usually required several swipes before it accepted your print.  Samsung made the home button a little larger and is now incorporating a fingerprint sensor, where you simply press your finger on the button – it’s faster and more reliable. Please let us know on our Google+ Page if you will be picking yourself up a new Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge when they become available…as always, we would love to hear from you.
