Alcatel OneTouch has just announced a new device as part of their PIXI 3 family of devices, the PIXI 3 5.5, which is a smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen. Alcatel states that the PIXI 3 is perfect for media streaming, playing games, and anything else where the display of a larger size could come in handy. The PIXI 3 also appears to be a fairly customizable device as it comes in a handful of different colors to tailor to the personality of the consumer, as it will be available in nine different colors total which includes Volcano Black, White, Amber Orange, Tango Red, Neon Pink, Laser Yellow, Vivid Green, Sharp Blue and Metallic Silver.

In addition to the multitude of different color options available for the PIXI 3 5.5, the phone comes equipped with a couple of other useful features like WiFi booster allowing users to download large files quickly while simultaneously using WiFi and LTE coverage to grab pieces of the file during the download process. It also comes with a feature Alcatel is calling WiFi display, which is basically the capability to miracast your display onto a compatible screen such as a TV or monitor. When it comes to the specs, the Alcatel PIXI 3 5.5 comes in a 3G and 4G model with a 5.5-Inch qHD display with a 540 x 960 resolution, 8GB of internal storage space with 1GB of RAM, a microSD card slot which supports up to a 32GB microSD card, an 8MP rear facing camera that is 5MP AF compatible and a 2MP front facing camera that is 5MP compatible.
While most of the specs will be the same between both models, there are a few slight differences. The 3G model of the PIXI 3 5.5 for instance comes with a 2,910mAh battery while the 4G model sports a slightly smaller 2,800mAh battery. The Chipsets are also different, as the 3G model will be powered by a MediaTek MT6580 quad-core chipset, and the 4G model will be powered by a QCT 8909 quad-core chipset. The 4G model will also have a global variant of the device available that supports up to a 128GB microSD card for the expandable storage, while the North American version of the 4G PIXI 3 5.5 and the 3G model will stick with the 32GB support for expandable storage we talked about above. Both the 3G and the 4G models will also support Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, WiFi, and will be running Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. As of now there is no official details in regards to the availability or pricing of either of these devices.
