OnePlus, the Chinese smartphone maker, has listed the 16GB Silk White OnePlus One on Amazon India for Rs. 18,999 or around $306. You will still need an invite to grab this phone. This pricing puts the OnePlus One in direct competition with the Xiaomi Mi 4 which will set you back around Rs. 19,999 or $322. Both phones are their respective makers flagship models.

The OnePlus One Silk White will have, as stated, 16GB of storage. Keep in mind that this smartphone does not have an SD slot, so you will be stuck with 16GB of max storage. It also has a 5.5 inch full HD IPS display which comes in at 1920 x 1080 pixels and is kept safe by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3. For the processor, we have a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 complimented by 3GB of RAM. This phone also includes 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and has NFC on board as well. For the rear camera, the OnePlus One Silk White has a 13-megapixel. The rear camera has dual LED flash and sports the excellent Sony Exmor BSI sensor. For the front camera is 5 -megapixel.

For operating system, the phone is currently running on CyanogenMod 11s which runs on 4.4 KitKat, though OnePlus will be changing over to their own custom ROM Oxygen OS which will bring the phone up to Android 5.0 Lollipop. OnePlus has some issues in the Indian courts and the phone was banned at one time in India. The issues were over the use of Cyanogen as the phone’s operating system. Cyanogen had originally made an exclusive deal with Micromax to have the operating system placed in their YU smartphone. They YU was an entry level phone and because such, the courts eventually lifted the ban on the OnePlus One when it was decided that it did not pose competition since it contained higher end specifications and was not considered in the same category as the much lower equipped YU.

OnePlus has priced this phone to compete with the Xiaomi Mi 4. Xiaomi has sold over a million phones in India and is in the same price range as the OnePlus One. India is a huge market, and as cell phone makers are offering more powerful phones at a better value we should see those numbers increase exponentially. For now you can head over to Amazon if you live in India and use your invite to secure your own version of this amazing phone by OnePlus.
