Lenovo’s Android Upgrade Matrix Reveals which Devices will Get Android Lollipop and When

February 13, 2015 - Written By Kristijan Lucic

Android 5.0 Lollipop is not just an iterative update for Google, a lot has changed compared to KitKat, and ever since Google announced the new version of Android, many manufacturers have announced their update plans. A lot of devices have already received the update, and some are yet to receive it, naturally. Lenovo isn’t exactly amongst those companies, unfortunately, but the company has quietly updated their Android Upgrade Matrix which reveals when certain devices will receive the latest and greatest version of Android.

According to the Android Upgrade Matrix page, which is a part of company’s official website, a number of devices will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in Q2 this year. The following devices are listed: Lenovo A5000, A6000, P70-A, S90-A, Vibe X2, Vibe Z2 and Vibe Z2 Pro are amongst the lucky handsets. Other devices might get the update eventually as well, but they’re not a part of the initial update batch. Lenovo didn’t clarify on this though, we have no idea if any other handsets will be receiving the update or not.

This announcement is late, significantly late, but you know what they say, better late than ever, right? Anyhow, do you own either one of these Lenovo smartphones, or perhaps some other ones that are not listed here and you were expecting them to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop? I personally do not own any Lenovo devices, but this is quite a list of devices, though I’m sure there are some of you who own a device that is not on this list and you’d want to see it update to Android Lollipop.

As a side note, the company has recently announced the P70 handset which sports a rather sizeable 4,000mAh battery. This handset, as you can see in the list above, will get updated to Android Lollipop in the second quarter of this year. Another thing to note is the fact that this device is available in Europe as well, it is not limited to Asia, and for those of you who’d like to find out more about that, visit this link and read on.
