DroidCon

DroidCon at the Convention Centre of Montreal on April 9-10

February 4, 2015 - Written By Cory McNutt

For the first ever Canadian droidcon is arriving on Thursday, April 9 opening at 9:00 AM and will continue until Friday, April 10 until 5:00 PM, and will be held at the Convention Centre of Montreal. Tickets will run CA$280, however, you can get an Early Bird price of CA$200 until March 1 and there is a great Student price of only CA$80. The first two droidcon conferences were held in Berlin and London during 2009 when an international team of Android enthusiasts got together – although since then it has traveled the world. The conference in Canada will bring some of the top Android engineers to North America.

This droidcon covers all aspects of the Android ecosystem from mobile devices, to TV, to cars, to wearables, to gaming, and so much more. Local Partners are needed for each conference to help organize, with support of sponsors and many volunteers to make it all come together, and the one in Montreal is no different. A Quebec City- based firm, Mirego – a full-service mobile design and development firm, is putting it all together. They are still looking for sponsors and volunteers, and if you go to droidcon’s website, there are places for you to sign up. The website is live and will continually update speakers and the keynote addresses.

Droidcon’s mission statement will tell you in their own words why they were formed: “The idea behind the droidcon conferences is to support the Android platform and create a global network for developers and companies. We offer high-class talks from different parts of the ecosystem, including core development, embedded solutions, augmented reality, business solutions and games.”

They are gathering up some exceptional speakers – so far they have listed Jake Wharton and Jesse Wilson from Square, Inc., Ty Smith and Jake Quellette from Twitter, Kevin Grant from Tumblr, Tejaswi Redkar from Microsoft, Etienne Caron from Intel Security, Jenny Tong from Firebase – Google, and Philippe Breault from Mirego – with many more to come.

Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know if you are looking forward to attending droidcon or if you will become a volunteer or sponsor… as always, we would love to hear from you.
