Dell Venue 8 7000 Gains Measuring Ability in Small OTA
Dell has been on a bit of tear lately, with the excellent Dell Chromebook 11 and now one of the most attractive and intriguing Android tablets since the Eee Pad Transformer. The Venue 8 7000 is one of Dell’s latest tablets to feature a pretty nifty trick that can use its three cameras on the back to approximate measurements between items. It’s really kinda cool, but it’s only been turned on in a recent OTA update. Now the feature should be updated for everyone to enjoy.
Sprint Updates HTC One (M8) to Android 5.0 Lollipop
Sprint updated the HTC One M7 to Lollipop last week and now, it’s the M8’s turn. Sprint’s support page lists a software version of 4.20.651.10 and notes that Android 5.0 Lollipop is included as well as the removal of the “Lumen toolbar”. This is presumably a pretty large update, so best to download over WiFi just to be on the safe side. All-in-all, a nice little rollout from Sprint here.
Latest OnePlus OTA Adds SwiftKey and AudioMaxx
We covered this one earlier in the week, and there’s no doubt that keen OnePlus users have already been there and done that when it comes to the update to CM11S05Q. This is not the biggest update out there, but it’s an important one because of the new SwiftKey and AudioMaxx integration. New features like these are sure to divide opinion, but it is nice to see them make an appearance sooner rather than later. You can read more about the update here.
Sony’s Xperia M2 Gets Fresh Updates
Sony’s Xperia M2 was just one of Sony’s many devices from 2014, and it’s getting some new software this week. The single SIM LTE versions of the M2 and the Xperia M2 Aqua are getting software version 18.3.1.C.1.13, while the dual-SIM version is seeing software versions 18.3.1.C.1.13 in the Middle East and 18.3.1.B.0.18 throughout parts of Europe. To make things even more confusing the D2305 model of the M2 is getting 18.3.1.A.0.21 in parts of America, the Far East and Eastern Europe. These look to be bug fix releases, and I hope Xperia M2 owners stay safe with all these model numbers flying around.
LG G Pro 2 Gets Lollipop Update in Europe
The G Pro 2, LG’s larger version of the G2 recently got updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop in South Korea and now the large update is starting to hit devices in Europe. Those in Hungary have seen the update and we’re assuming other regions where the device was sold are seeing the update as well. This is a large update that comes in at 640MB and it brings with it Android 5.0.1 Lollipop as well as the skin from the G3, bringing a whole new look and feel to the device. Hopefully, those interest will already have the update!
SHIELD Portable Gets Small Update to Improve Emulation
How do you know your product is designed purely for gaming? Well, the company that produces it throws you an update to make game emulators run better. You know, those things that help you download Super Nintendo and Genesis games for free and spend all your time playing those instead of hanging out in the Tegra Zone. This latest update to the SHIELD Portable is version 101 and lists one single line as its changelog; “This update is an optional patch that improves stability and smoothness for emulators.”
AT&T Gifts the G3 With Sweet, Sweet Lollipop
At long last, the AT&T G3 has caught up to European counterparts, and has gained a whopping 700MB update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. This is LG software version D85020f and this is Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, LRX21Y. Under-the-hood, you’ll have the latest version of Android, but there’s some new stuff from LG as well like a few tweaks to the notification pulldown and little tweaks elsewhere. This update can only be downloaded over WiFi, and you can read the AT&T page on the update here.

Now, on to the important thing; the Nabi Tablet 2 is getting Android 4.4 KitKat and a whole host of other features from Fuhu, too. You can read all about those here.
