If you love your pictures and images then chances are that you are a big user of Instagram. Along with Facebook and Twitter, Instagram has become an extremely popular social media site. However, that is not the only common feature these three share. Just like Facebook and Twitter, Instagram has today announced that it will begin offering android users a beta testing option for their Instagram app. As you would expect with beta testing, this will allow users the opportunity to experience early changes to their app, experimental features and testing updates.
Typical of beta testing, this means that those who join up to the program can expect to see the latest Instagram features before those which are sent out to the Google Play app. These experimental features will be early stage features and as such some might not even make it onto the main app at all. If you feel like his is something you might want to give a go then Instagram have created a Google Groups page which will be the hub of the beta testing program. Through the Google Groups page, users will be able to apply for testing, report back bugs and results and effectively shape the end app update which will make its way to Google Play and the majority of android Instagram users.
The announcement from Instagram today came in the way of a Twitter announcement (source link below) which simply stated the launch of the program and the link to the Google Groups page. If you do give this one a try then you should remember that this is an experimental update to an app and as such there is always the possibility of features not working properly or correctly. Of course, that is the whole point of beta testing but nevertheless you should be aware. That said, if you do want to give the service a try then follow the link to head over to the Google Groups page announced by Instagram. You will of course need to have a Google email account set up to join but that seems to be the only requirement. So will you be beta-ing Instagram? Let us know.
