VAIO Smartphones Rumored To Be In The Works And Maybe Announced At CES 2015

Any Sony fans out there will recognise Sony for probably three iconic reasons. If you a mobile fan then the Xperia range of devices probably spring to mind. If you are a gamer then of course it is all about the Playstation range of consoles. However, if you are a laptop fan then there is no doubt that VAIO will be the name you associate with Sony. Over the last years, Sony have grown the VAIO brand and had quite good success with the brand. Perfectly positioned with the right amount of specs for the right price, the VAIO brand of laptops offered a really good alternative to the other laptop options.

Well, the relationship between Sony and VAIO ended earlier this year when Sony decided to sell off the brand. This was thought of as an intention by Sony to streamline its future offerings with a clear focus on the mobile market. For the VAIO fans out there, this was disappointing. That said, since then, the VAIO range has continued and now lives on in its own post-Sony era and is still enjoying a good level of success and sales based on the trust in the VAIO name. Likewise, Sony have moved forward and the mobile industry is highly expecting the release and launch of a number of new Sony Xperia devices come next month at CES in Las Vegas.

Well, the latest news is quite interesting as it now suggests that Sony and its previously branded VAIO range might soon be going head-to-head. The latest is that a VAIO branded range of smartphones are imminently about to drop. In fact, the suggestions are that this new brand of devices will also be unveiled at CES next month as well as Sony’s Xperia Z4 and relative variants. In terms of what will be offered, the details are still too limited. In fact, the only suggested ‘known’ is that the VAIO smartphones(s) will come with a 5″ display. AT present, no further details are known. That said, CES is only a matter of days away now and so it won’t be long until we know more and whether Sony should be worried about a new VAIO branded smartphone. Are or were you a VAIO owner? Do you like the idea of a VAIO branded smartphone even if it is not made by Sony? Let us know your thoughts.
