There’s much to like about the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and when our very own Alexander reviewed it, there was only one aspect that he was less keen on; the battery life. The Galaxy Alpha appears to have been designed with the look and feel of the device first and foremost and specifications coming in second place. Which befits a product for an industry where mid-range is for many people, more than adequate. It has a 4.7-inch, 720p resolution Super AMOLED screen, which whilst not bleeding edge, is perfectly sharp for most people, most of the time. An advantage of the 720p resolution is it means the chipset has less work to do shunting pixels around the screen, which has a knock-on effect when it comes to power consumption.

The Alpha comes with a high end processor. Either the Samsung Exynos 5 octa-core unit (this consists of a high performance, 1.8 GHz, quad core processor paired up with a high efficiency, 1.3 GHz, quad core processor). Or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (that’s a 2.5 GHz, quad core unit). As well as 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Unlike many other Samsung devices, there’s no MicroSD slot here. There’s a 12 MP rear camera and a 2.1 MP front facing camera for selfies and video calls. The device has a 1,860 mAh battery, which in the context of modern day devices is not so much. Samsung have given the Galaxy Alpha Android 4.4 Kit Kat and included the latest version of TouchWiz, which includes Multi-Window, AirView and S Health support. This is all wrapped up in a thin, lightweight body. And by thin, I mean; really thin actually. The Galaxy Alpha is just 6.7mm thin and weighs 115g.

If you’ve in the UK and have a desire to buy the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, you’re in luck as today Samsung UK are offering the Level Box Mini with every Galaxy Alpha bought. You’ve your choice of color from Sleek Silver, Frosted Gold, Scuba Blue and Charcoal Black for the handset, and for the speaker you can pick red, blue, black or silver. If you’ve not splashed out on a new handset for a while and have avoided all of the Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals, here might be your chance! The downside is that the Galaxy Alpha is going to set you back £529, but the £90 cost of the speaker should soften this. If you’re looking to pick up the deal then visit this website. Add both the Galaxy Alpha and the Level Box Mini to your shopping cart and use the promotional code “NALPHA” during the checkout process.
