Muzei Live Wallpaper Gets Version 2.0 Update With Lollipop And Android Wear enhancements

December 10, 2014 - Written By Justin Diaz

We’ve talked about Muzei before, a live wallpaper app created by Roman Nurik that has a host of handy features and lets you have the potential to look at a new wallpaper fairly often throughout the day if you wish, while having the ability to draw wallpapers from a wide variety of different sources thanks to Muzei’s large list of extensions. Muzei is now reaching the point where it’s just been updated to version 2.0, and not only does Roman Nurik state that there will be all kinds of new features to the app that any current user should appreciate, but it also brings along support for both Android Wear and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The coolest thing is easily the Android Wear support, although that really is just subjective and a personal preference, I know, but whatever you love about Muzei you have to agree that being able to share the same wallpaper between your smartphone/tablet and Android Wear smartwatch is definitely awesome. Among the new features and changes to Muzei in this update, there is an updated look for Android 5.0. I don’t personally have a device running Lollipop yet, so I can’t say what the updated style looks like. If any readers however use Muzei and have a Lollipop device like the Nexus 6 or Nexus 9, feel free to share what Lollipop style differences you notice.

There are a handful of other changes too, some of them more minor but equally important we feel, like a slider bar for saturation which is located in advanced settings, better support for new art notifications on Android Wear, a full screen artwork detail view on Android Wear, removable effects on the lock screen of your Android device, improved panning behavior for wider works of art, and of course, a host of bug fixes and improvements, which are absolutely essential especially considering big changes like Android Wear support and Android Lollipop. If you’re already using Muzei you should see the update available in the “my apps” section, and if you haven’t checked it out yet you can download it now as the latest version from the this link.
