The Eve Of Christmas Eve Will Bring The Asus ZenWatch To The UK

Looking for what is arguably the sexiest square smartwatch on the market, but are living in the UK where it just hasn’t been available yet? Asus started selling its very own smartwatch, dubbed the ZenWatch, on the Google Play Store about a month ago in the US but it hasn’t been seen much elsewhere in the rest of the world since then. Now it looks like Asus is finally bringing it to another big tech market in the world: the UK, and it’s doing it just in the nick of time for those last-minute Christmas shoppers out there. In just six days you’ll be able to grab your very own Asus ZenWatch at Currys or PC World for £200: that’s December 23rd for those not wanting to glance at a calendar.

Coming in at the same price at the Moto 360 in the UK is a rather interesting move on Asus’ part considering that it’s one of the less expensive watches in the US. It looks like Asus is banking on the stylish good looks of the ZenWatch to show that it’s ready to compete with the uber sexy Moto 360 though, and packing in the latest version of Android Wear is just a part of that strategy. The ZenWatch may be a rounded square but the watch itself has a distinct curve to it, fitting better on your wrist than a flat design would and looking a little more stylish too. The glass itself has been dubbed 2.5D by Asus because the screen appears to be on a raised plane inside the glass, giving it an even more unique look. Couple these design decisions with the custom-built stitched leather band and unique clasp design and you’ve got yourself one hot holiday gift.

Of course like most other Android Wear watches the ZenWatch uses a removable 22mm standard watch band so you can change out the style as you see fit. Asus has also upped the game with a 320 x 320 resolution AMOLED display, meaning your black levels are truly black and the colors pop when needed.  There’s also a 9-axis sensor on board for detecting things like steps walked throughout the day and gestures made with the watch, as well as a bio sensor to track your heartrate and other stats throughout the day. All in all, the ZenWatch is one lovely piece of tech that UK tech enthusiasts will finally be able to get their hands on, so check out Currys and PC World in just six days from now!
