The HTC One M8 EYE Is Launching In India Tomorrow For Rs. 38,990

HTC has been in hitting the headlines recently for all the right reasons, from posting a 3rd Quarter profit to the launch of its Re Camera device in India for Rs. 9990 ($160) earlier today. Tying in with that is the news that the HTC One M8 EYE is also being launched in India for Rs. 38990 ($634). The handset should be available in retails stores in GunMetal Grey and Glacial Silver colours from tomorrow.

So the HTC One M8 EYE is pretty similar in specifications to the regular HTC One M8, sharing the Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor that is clocked at 2.5GHz with an Adreno 330 GPU pushing the pixels. There’s 2GB of RAM, with 16GB of internal memory that can be further expanded by up to 128GB thanks to the included Micro-SD card slot. The display is the same 5-inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel, and there are still dual speakers present on the front of the device. There’s the usual 4G/LTE/Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, along with GPS and Glonass. The same 5MP camera with BSI sensor is present on the rear. Storing the juice is a 2,600mAh battery.

Now for the changes, instead of the much maligned Ultra-Pixel set-up that the normal HTC One M8 has, the EYE version has a 13MP primary camera with dual LED flash and an f2.0 aperture. Having the f/2.0 aperture means that the lens can let lots of light through that translates to better low-light pictures as well as having a fast shutter speed. There is still a secondary camera present that takes care of capturing depth information for those ‘bokeh’ pictures that let you blur the background of the image while keeping the chosen section of the image in focus.

The HTC One M8 EYE edition should be a welcome lease of life for HTC’s flagship handset. By tweaking the camera to what it arguably should have been in the first place, HTC are getting a second bit of the cherry for little extra effort.
