Chillingo has just launched a new game onto Android, called Modern Command, which mixes Tower Defense elements with strategy gameplay. In Modern Command, it’s your goal, NAY, your duty, to build up a protective global force to defend against the onslaught of enemies encroaching on your position. You’ll have to eliminate the terrorist threat if you wish to stay alive. Can you do it? Modern Command looks like a game worthy of checking out especially if you love strategy and defense games. The game features full 3D graphics and some pretty cool looking animations, and since it’s free with IAP, once can test it out and not worry should they not care for it.

Command the battlefield with all manner of weaponry. Blow your enemies to bits with rockets from special launchers. Place defenses strategically to fend off enemy invaders. Decimate your foes with demoralizing and powerful airstrikes. In Modern Command there is a fight to control the earth’s supply of a precious resource called “Protonium,” and you’ll be joining the fight to control what’s left of it while also having to protect your own base in the process. You’ll end up fighting in several different countries across the globe including South America, Africa, Asia, Europe and other regions.

The on screen controls are said to be a simple touch based intuitive interface allowing for full control of your defenses on the battlefield. Not having tested out the game yet ourselves, we can’t speak to the controls. You can research new technologies and build new weapons and defenses, complete missions to rank up and earn experience and you can take things to a social level by coordinating and uniting with friends via Facebook who also play the game. There are daily mission to complete for those who log in every day which likely offer exclusive rewards for completion, and there are also plenty of achievements to collect and other objectives to complete through the game. Combat seems to be wave based, so anyone who has played a Tower Defense game should be familiar to some degree with how things work. Is anyone going to give this a shot? If you’re interested in checking it out you can grab the game from the Play Store link.
