There is always a new device and new markets being announced every day – a good thing when you work on an Android website, such as Android Headlines – but it is hard to keep track of what devices are going to what countries. Yesterday, HTC, the ‘quietly brilliant’ company, quietly announce their new Desire 510, a mid-range 64-bit smartphone bringing LTE to the company’s lowest priced device. It was exciting enough that 64-bit and LTE are in such a lower priced device, but today our source heard from HTC that the Desire 510 will find its way to Canada in the coming months on Rogers, Fido, SaskTel, TELUS, Videotron and Virgin…and maybe more will follow.
Peter Chou, CEO of HTC said, “Owning the latest and greatest technology shouldn’t be reserved for those with the highest budgets. People today should expect their smartphones to double as mobile entertainment hubs. This means ensuring that they’re fully loaded with the latest movies, TV shows and albums, by taking advantage of the super-fast network speeds available. The HTC Desire 510 does this and more, making it the perfect mobile media device.” I don’t know about the “latest and greatest technology,” but it is a nice mid-level device.
The HTC Desire 510 has a 4.7-inch FWVGA display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage…but does have a microSD slot for additional storage. This is the first device with Qualcomm’s low-end 64-bit SoC which sports four Cortex-AA53 cores with an updated Adreno 306 GPU. It has a 5MP main shooter and a VGA front-facing camera (FFC) for video chatting and selfies. It will be running Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 – one of the more popular UI skins. HTC is treating their new baby with a lot of respect when they announced that they will even produce a special Dot View case for the Desire 510 – one of the more popular cases for the high-end HTC One M8. There was no word on when the device would actually go on sale or the price – we do know they will offer it in Terra White and Meridian Grey. Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if you are looking forward to purchasing the HTC Desire 510…as always, we would love to hear from you.
