1Password goes Freemium with version 4.1 in the Play Store

August 19, 2014 - Written By Alexander Maxham

Today, 1Password is pushing out version 4.1 of it’s app into the Play Store. This also marks the transition of the app going into freemium. What that means is that you’ll be getting the app for free, and paying for each feature as an in-app purchase. However, 1Password is making all the features free for one month. After the 30 days is up, you’ll see 1Password go into reader mode, making it useless basically until you pay for it. You can unlock all features for a one-time price of $9.99. Which isn’t bad at all considering everything that 1Password does.

If you download it for a limited time they will take 20% off that price. So you’ll get new items, organizing the vault, and marking items as favorites for quick access, for just $7.99 instead of $9.99. It may only be a couple of bucks, but that’s a couple of bucks you didn’t have before, right? Well you actually did, but you know what I mean. We’ve got the full press release down below for those interested.

(Toronto, Canada) Tuesday, August 19, 2014 – 1Password for Android is a password manager and secure wallet. It saves you time by remembering all your passwords so you can log in with a single tap. It also makes you more secure by creating strong, unique passwords for all your accounts. 1Password is simple, convenient security.

In 1Password 4 for Android, users can slim their wallets by adding Logins, Identities, Credit Cards, Memberships, Secure Notes, and many other items, fill their details in a built-in browser, organize items using Folders and Favourites, and sync their vault using Dropbox or Folder Sync. All data is protected with AES-256 bit encryption and only decrypted on-demand, ensuring that users’ sensitive data stays secure.

1Password 4.1 for Android is a major release that adds 17 localizations, the ability to create a new vault right on the device, and, in a first for AgileBits, brand new freemium pricing. Now, 1Password 4 for Android and all features are free for everyone to try for 30 days. After that, it remains in Reader mode as a great sync companion to 1Password for Windows, Mac, or iOS.
