The ZTE MF97A Could Soon Offer Sprint Customers a Hotspot and Projector in One Device

While there’s no shortage of WiFi hotspots out there, or Pico projectors, we’re willing to bet that there aren’t too many devices out there that combine the two together. At least not the fashion that a new hotspot from ZTE that’s apparently heading to Sprint does. According to the latest leak from @evleaks, the ZTE MF97A is a WiFi Hotspot come Pico projector. Why might you want such a device you might be wondering, well, there’s a lot of things that both a WiFi hotspot and a Pico projector can do, but put them together and if you have an interesting device that has a lot to offer.

For one thing, it looks like you can simply plug something in using HDMI, say your laptop or your tablet and there’s even WiFi display capabilities judging from the Android homescreen featured in the leaked image. So, already it looks like there’s potential for the ZTE MF97A in the boardroom or for traveling salesman, but what I’m more interested in is what it could mean for when you’re traveling. Having the ability to not only connect your tablets or laptops to your cell network – if you manage to get good coverage that is – as well as have a portable display for comfier viewing is pretty compelling. It’s also got Android onboard, so there’s the question of whether or not you can simply use streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu with this.

Whether or not the device hits Sprint is still unclear, but a device like this might become something of an unsung hero for Sprint, after all there’s a lot of uses for such a device. Let’s just hope that Sprint won’t be asking too much for such a device, even if it is Android powered and a projector as well as a WiFi hotspot finding people willing to pay for such a gadget isn’t going to easy. Would you purchase something like this or is it a little too far?
