Canadian travelers to Europe just got a big break in pricing by TELUS – who just started offering three new European Travel Pass bundled packages that are now available. You can also track your real-time usage with their new Travel Tracker Tool. There are three bundles currently available, all designated as a European Combo Pass. These passes, along with TELUS’s new tools, should help you to keep your costs under control while traveling.
The first package offered is the Combo Pass 50 – it, surprisingly, costs $50 and offers you 50 minutes of talk time, 100MB of data, 150 outgoing text messages, free incoming text messages, and can be used in all European countries. This offers you a savings over the pay-per-use rate of $615.
The second offered is the new Combo Pass 85 – it will cost you $85 and offers you 100 minutes of talk time (I bet you thought I was going to say 85), 300MB of data, 200 outgoing text messages, free incoming text messages, and can be used in all European countries. This offers you a savings over the pay-per-use rate of $1,685.
The third offering is the new Combo Pass 150 – it will cost you $150 and offers you 200 minutes of talk time, 500MB of data, unlimited outgoing text messages, free incoming text messages, and can be used in all European countries. This offers you a savings over the pay-per-use rate of $2,650. Overages will cost you the same on all three packages – $1.00 per minute of talk, $1.00 per MB of data and $.60 per text message.
To help manage your roaming charges, TELUS offers several new tools. There is now Enhance Notifications – once in a new country, you will receive a text message letting you know the pay-per-use cost, alerting you when you begin to use data, and when you return to Canada, a notification will be sent with a summary of all usage and charges.
You will also receive Real-time data usage tracking – you can access this tool any time to see real-time numbers and rates while you are traveling out of Canada.
TELUS also allows Data Blocking – with this service, TELUS will block any more data usage after your bill hits $100 in pay-per-use data roaming charges within your monthly billing cycle. A notification will be sent to let you know that data is being blocked – simply reply ‘Yes’ to the text message to unblock it or go to the tracker tool and click, ‘unblock.’
They also throw in a Data Usage Calculator and recommend that you try and use Wi-Fi as much as possible to save on data fees. Please let us know on our Google+ Page if TELUS’s new European Travel Passes will be a big help you…as always, we would love to hear from you.
