The leaked smartphone codenamed as ‘HTC-Eye’ (also known as the ‘Ultimate Selfie’ phone) will be launched by HTC in the 4th Quarter of this year. Well, evleaks was the first one to pitch in about this rumor but then there are no leaked images or any other textual information about the device. HTC has been emphasizing over front-facing cameras for a long time now. The ‘HTC One’ series smartphones which includes HTC One M8, HTC One Mini 2 and HTC Desire 816, are mostly about smartphones with good front facing cameras, although there are a good many other features in all of those devices as well.

So, what can be so special or unique about this HTC Eye? The most expected answer would be the further increase in number of pixels for the front facing camera but then it has already been done by Huawie Ascend P7 recently. Let us tell you that HTC is not the only one who is working over a smartphone which could provide the best selfies, Sony and Nokia are also planning to join this race. With this shifting trend towards ‘posting a selfie on a social network’, smartphone manufacturers are eyeing on this opportunity. Sony Xperia C2 claims to have a ProSelfie Front Facing camera of 5MP with a soft LED Flash, this is the first smartphone with an LED Flash for a secondary camera. Nokia may also launch a smartphone (which has been codenamed as Nokia Superman in the rumors) with a 5MP front facing camera.

Talking about the other smartphones which may be launched by HTC in the fourth quarter, then HTC Butterfly 2 also joins the list. HTC is planning to revamp the Butterfly series with HTC Butterfly 2, which is expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and a 5 Inch display with Full HD resolution. Apart from this, the HTC W8 is also rumored to land up in the third quarter. The HTC W8 is expected to operate with Windows Phone 8S and may land-up under a mid-range section. The shipments of smartphones for HTC was doubled in the last quarter and so they are all geared-up to launch new models in the market to provide the customers with lots of options over a wide price range.
