This morning, Evleaks posted that the SM-G750 identifies as the new Galaxy Mega. But according to a leak from GSM Arena last week, it looks like it’ll be the Galaxy K Mega. As that appears to be Samsung’s new lineup of devices. So we’ve got the Galaxy S, Galaxy K and Galaxy Note line of devices it appears. The Galaxy Mega last year was actually a really nice device. They had the 5.8 and 6.3 last year, I reviewed the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and actually used it as my daily driver for a month as a test. The battery life was great, the performance was great as well. And for having a 720p display, it wasn’t bad at all. Now we’re looking at a refresh of the Galaxy Mega, and I’m hoping that they slim down the bezels a bit, and cram some more pixels into that display. Although I think Samsung is going for a mid-range phablet here.
All we know so far about the Mega 2 is that it’ll sport a 6-inch 720p display according to leaks. It’ll likely be an AMOLED display as well. It’ll probably either feature the faux leather backing of the Galaxy Note 3 or the new soft touch, dimple backing of the Galaxy S5. Which I like both actually. Although I think I prefer the Faux leather, what about the rest of you?
Samsung has an event on June 12th, the Galaxy Premiere event, so we may see the Galaxy Mega 2 get announced then, along side that new Galaxy S tablet that’s been floating around the rumor mill lately. We’ll be sure to keep our eyes open in case anything else pops up on the Galaxy Mega 2. Are any of you interested in the Galaxy Mega? Or are you sticking with the Galaxy Note 3 or another phablet around that size? Let us know in the comments below.
