Samsung Galaxy S4 Update Includes Kids Mode, and Knox 2.0

Right now, the Samsung Galaxy S4 (that’d be the I9505) is getting a pretty nice update. No it’s not a new version of Android, but it does bring in some more Samsung features that are found on the Galaxy S5. This includes Kids Mode and Knox 2.0. Knox 2.0 is the latest version of Samsung’s enterprise security software which is available on all their devices. Kids Mode on the other hand, brings us a kid-friendly UI along with a special app store with kids apps. So this way your child can play on your phone. For those interested, this is build XXUGNE5. And is rolling out right now internationally. So far we only have reports of it being available in Germany, although we should see it soon in other countries in Europe and head to the US in a few months. Once the carriers have finished testing the update.

The update is about 130MB in file size and is available via OTA, Kies, or downloading from Sammobile’s website, for those interested. It’s great to see Samsung bringing some of the Galaxy S5’s features to their older devices like the Galaxy S4. Although it’d be nicer to see the new UI from Touchwiz on the Galaxy S5 on the Galaxy S4. As I do like the new UI better, and I know I’m not alone there. But it’s not going to happen simply because a lot of people do not like change. It’s as simple as that. Anyone remember the rage from the iOS 7 update that Apple pushed out last year? That was crazy. It would be the same thing if Samsung pushed their new version of Touchwiz onto the Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note 3.

How many of you with the international Galaxy S4 (Snapdragon 600 variant) are happy to see this update land for your device? Let us know in the comments below.
