I don’t know about you, but I love to use Live Wallpapers (LWP) on my Galaxy Note 3 – my current one is the underwater world of tropical fish that constantly swim around…there is something very soothing about it – like staring into an aquarium. During the winter, I will switch my LWP to a Christmas tree, snow falling and some skaters on the frozen pond – again, very comforting. I guess you look for scenes like that as you get older, but you get the drift…it is all about customization and putting on your device whatever floats-your-boat.
About a month ago, Google put out a new Google Camera App (CLICK HERE TO GET IT) with a completely new User Interface (UI). It looks totally different and the reason is simple – it has Google’s new 100% viewfinder and it puts the controls out of your way so you can see your subject, not your options. One of the great features in this new camera App are the creative modes that you can use for taking your shoots – one of them is called Lens Blur. It works kind of like the Duo Camera on the new HTC One M8 or more so like the Selective Focus on the new Samsung Galaxy S5 – changing the field of focus, only electronically. The Lens Blur allows you to focus in on the foreground or the background.
Okay, now that you have the Google Camera, any picture that you take using the Lens Blur mode can now be turned into your very own custom live wallpaper using another new App called Lens Blur Live Wallpaper (CLICK HERE TO GET IT). This App will take that Lens Blur photo, give it a 3D effect, and allow you to create your own, personalized home screen. I would not recommend using landscape photos to make your 3D creations as they will look a little ‘squished.’
The Lens Blur Live Wallpaper application works as advertised – they need to work on the UI part to make it a little more intuitive, but its is nothing that you cannot figure out on your own…but then it is a LWP App, so it is not like you will be using it on a daily basis. Just remember that this App only works with the official Google Camera App. Take a look at the video below and please look us up on our Google+ Page and let us know what you think…as always, we would love to hear from you.
