AT&T has finally implemented something that many other retailers have had for quite a while. And that’s the ability to order your smartphone or tablet online, and then pick it up in the store. I was actually kind of surprised by this, I thought AT&T already offered this as it seems like almost every other retailer does already. It’s real easy to do, when checking out at att.com, make sure you choose “In-store Pick-up” in which case it’ll ask you to choose a store to pick up your order from. Within the next hour, you’ll receive a text message that your item or order is ready for pickup. You’ll likely need some form of ID when you go in and pick up your order, just so they can be sure they are giving the order to the right person. AT&T states that you should be in and out of the store in no time at all.
It’s great to see AT&T bringing this to their stores and website now. It’s something that they’ve needed for a long time, because many people don’t want to wait for their smartphone or tablet. Or even for a new case, charger, or any other accessory. So this is a good move on AT&T’s part. There’s no word on whether this is just for corporate stores or if it’s for third-party retailers as well. Hopefully we’ll get some clarification pretty soon. This is going to be great for those that are always traveling, and may not be at home often. They can just pick up what they need from a nearby AT&T store instead of waiting for the package to hit their doorstep.
