Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi may fast becoming known for their smartphones and their accessories, but their secret to their explosive growth has no doubt been their software. The MIUI ROM that’s at the heart of the Mi3 and RedMi devices Xioami is currently selling features a drastically modified version of Android, where no part of Google’s OS is safe. Many of you will have already come across a MIUI ROM for your device, but now it looks like any and all Android users will be able to enjoy a little MIUI on their devices.

The Chinese company has recently released a Beta version of the launcher that powers their entire MIUI effort and it’s readily available for anyone to go ahead and download. It’s not just the launcher that comes with the 30MB APK however, as the lockscreen, dialler and more are all included in the Launcher download. With a design that that has evolved over the years to take on its own identity, the MIUI launcher was devised to blend parts of iOS with Android. There’s no app drawer included here, but widgets are used to great effect and of course, the icons are certainly unique in their own right.

The beta launcher can be downloaded from the source link and all it requires is that you’re running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or above and have at least 1GB of RAM, but 2GB is recommended for some reason. This is an early release, parts of the software are still in Chinese and it might not work as well as you would like, so this is definitely something for those early adopters out there. Let us know if you’ve downloaded the launcher and tell us how you got on with this taste of MIUI on your device down in the comments!
