Despite the fact that the Xperia Z2 was announced by Sony back in February, the device has yet to hit shelves around the world. While the device is said to hit the UK by May 1st, Hong Kong buyers will have to wait until as late as June. Sony Mobile Hong Kong had reached out on Facebook to confirm the delay, with no reasons given however, it’s going to be a while yet until Hong Kong buyers can get their hands on Sony’s latest and greatest. With the HTC One and now the Galaxy S5 launched across the globe, we question just why Sony is struggling so badly with getting the Z2 onto shelves. Needless to say, this sort of delay won’t be doing wonders for their sales when it finally does launch.

Those that were looking to get their hands on a more modern flip phone in India can do so for a lot less now, as the Galaxy Golden from Samsung has come down in price considerably. Coming in at just RS 30,000 now, you can get the dual-screen (both at 3.7-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED) flip phone with a 1.7 Ghz dual-core Snapdragon CPU, 1.5 GB of RAM with Android 4.2.2 running the show. Samsung Galaxy S5 Now Available in India for RS 51,000

GS5 Galaxy S5 2.4

This Friday, Samsung’s Galaxy S5 launched in 125 countries across the globe, with one of the launch markets of course being India. Launching for RS 51,000 the Galaxy S5 is hardly cheap, but then again what brand new smartphone is there days? It’s worth noting that the version in India has the Octa-Core 5422 CPU, which pairs four 1.9 Ghz A15 cores with four 1.3 Ghz A7 cores. That shouldn’t have too much affect on performance, but we would rather see the Snapdragon version available in India. While pricey at RS 51,000, this is a lot of phone for the money, and with a fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor and more, it’s clear to see that the Galaxy S5 is packed full of technology.

Vodafone Launches Smart Mini 4 for Just £50

In the UK, it’s hard to get a decent Android smartphone for not a lot of money when you’re looking to go contractless. Vodafone’s Smart Mini line has been doing just that for a few years now and their latest, the Smart 4 Mini, costs just £50. Bringing a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and a dual-core CPU with it, £50 is a great deal. It’s essentially an Alcatel device dressed up for the UK network, but for £50 it works, so there’s little else to complain about. Less than half the price of the Moto G in the UK, this is perhaps the best smartphone deal you’re going to get.

Dual-SIM ASUS FonePad 7 Launching in India Soon

When ASUS announced their FonePad tablets last year, they shocked the majority of us as we didn’t think that ASUS would be getting into the phone game in such a fashion. Now, the dual-SIM variant of the FonePad 7 is launching in India next week. The 720p display packing tablet features a dual-core Intel Atom, 1GB of RAM and more. It’s a flexible device that’s running Android 4.3, but should be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat soon. Complete with front and rear cameras, the FonePad 7 can indeed be used as a tablet or a phone. While there’s no word on pricing just yet, we can’t imagine these to be too expensive.

Coming in at 4.7-inches, we’re not sure what makes this “mini”, but the Gionee Elife E7 Mini is now available in India. Delayed since the beginning of the year, the interesting device is available from a number of online retailers in the region for roughly RS 19,000. The 1280 x 720 display is an IGZO panel, and the MediaTek Octa-Core MT6592 should deliver some good performance. Where the Elife E7 Mini stands out however, is the swivel camera that comes with a 13-megapixel sensor and can be used for selfies and landscapes alike.
