Samsung Gear Fit Now Works in Portrait Orientation thanks to OTA

One of the more interesting wearables from Samsung that was announced at Mobile World Congress back in February is the Gear Fit. Which it’s interesting on a few levels. The major one being the curved display. It’s basically a fitness tracker, with a  few other features. It’s a really nice looking fitness tracker as well. The Gear Fit will go on sale later this week alongside the Galaxy S5, Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. All four devices launching on April 11th. Additionally the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit are only compatible with Samsung devices. Which  are the Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3.

Back in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress, the big gripe from all the press that were on hand for Samsung’s press event had was the fact that it only did landscape orientation and didn’t flip to portrait. However, that has changed thanks to an update. Samsung posted a picture on their blog showcasing the portrait orientation on the Gear Fit, which you can see above. Obviously the change should make it a bit easier to view information and even use the wearable. Given that it’s a fitness device, it’ll be easier to check out your steps and such as well.

We haven’t gotten our hands on a Gear Fit just yet, but we should pretty soon since the device goes on sale later this week. As soon as we get one to review, we’ll be sure to put it through it’s paces and see exactly how well it works. I’m really excited for the Gear Fit, even though I can’t buy it since I don’t own a Samsung device, unfortunately. How many of our readers are planning on ordering a Samsung Gear Fit when it goes on sale on April 11th? Let us know in the comments below.
