A New Game Based On The Walking Dead Coming Soon From AMC And Next Games

The Walking Dead seems to be everywhere, on our TV’s, in our minds, and soon to be on our smartphones and tablets thanks to AMC and Next Games. There are already a couple Walking Dead games available on the Play Store but neither has really seemed to sate the hunger for a game that Walking Dead fans have been craving. The best one yet according to those who have had the chance to play it is the episodic series of Walking Dead titles from Telltale games, which for Android is an OUYA exclusive title unfortunately. The hope is that this new Walking Dead title coming from AMC and Next Games can do some justice to those gamers on Android who have been waiting for a decent offering based on the series.

While there’s always a chance that this new title could be just as much of a let down as the others, it has promise due to the fact that the team of developers and game designers that will be working on the game come from other game studios with popular titles already out on the Play Store. Some of the team members come from Rovio and Supercell, as well as Disney. We should all know by now how popular titles like Angry Birds and Clash of Clans have become, so while having members from those studio teams doesn’t exactly mean that Next Games will be putting out a first rate product, it gives us high hopes. There aren’t many details about the game just yet, but according to Next Games we can expect their Walking Dead title to be just as high energy and full of riveting suspense as the show. Other good news for those who hate game ports, is that there will be no porting done here. The game is going to be designed from the ground up with gameplay on tablets and smartphones in mind. Meaning that we should have a totally unique experience that was meant to be played from touch screens, with intuitive controls and hopefully stunning visuals to match. In regards to the game the CEO of Next Games said that

-We want to find that sweet spot where gameplay and narrative inform and reinforce one another. Like AMC’s The Walking Dead itself, we’re not giving away too many details right out the gate, but I can confidently state it’s unlike anything we’ve seen from The Walking Dead franchise on home or mobile gaming hardware before.-

So far there is no known release date for the game, but it was stated as coming in the near future, which we all know could mean a few months or six. We do know, that more details are to follow in the coming months about the game so a launch in three or four months is probably unlikely.
