Samsung Expands Canadian Presence With Third Samsung Experience Store in West Edmonton Mall

Samsung is trying to expand its presence everywhere and Samsung Canada is no exception. They have just opened their third “Samsung Experience Store” in West Edmonton Mall similar to the stores in Burnaby and Richmond, British Columbia. The 2200 square foot store allows customer to look over and purchase Samsung tablets, smartphones, notebooks, cameras, the Galaxy Gear, and accessories – this formula has worked well for Apple and Samsung has decided it can work for them as well. Customers are certainly more apt to make a purchase if they can actually touch, see, and “use” the device before the purchase. Not only that, but chances of them purchasing a Samsung product is even better when the customer is not in a carrier’s store where they might be pushing other products, such as a Moto X or LG G2, because the person making the sale likes them better or makes more money on another product.

Samsung is an international marketing partner of Hockey Canada.  They are using this relationship to further spread their products by helping to bring together the coaches of each hockey team for a training session on how they can use Samsung tablet technology in the locker room and on the bench for better game performance.

James Politeski, President of Samsung Canada said:

“We are excited to have a 2,200 square foot retail presence in Alberta’s premier shopping destination and North America’s biggest mall.  As a brand, we continue to dedicate resources focused on expanding our national retail presence in Canada in order to get closer to our customers.  The grand opening of our third Samsung Experience Store today in West Edmonton Mall is another example of how we continue to take strides aligned with that commitment.”

Best Buy and Future Shops have been closing stores and laying off employees as their e-commerce and mobile shopping continue to rise – online orders have surged 50-percent over last year.  However, there are still 79 Best Buy stores and 149 Future Shop stores spread across Canada, and Samsung started to open a series of Samsung Experience Shops located inside Best Buy and Future Shop locations, with plans to add an additional 90 stores that are poised to open by the end of spring 2014.
