HP Announces Slate21 Pro; an All-In-One 21.5-inch Android PC Aimed at Businesses

All-in-one PCs have been trying to break through in the consumer market for years. They just haven’t quite caught on yet. All-in-ones running Android are starting to make an appearance on the market now, and HP is jumping on the bandwagon with the all new Slate21 Pro.

The Slate21 Pro’s target market is hotels, kiosk-type retail locations, and schools. It has a 21.5-inch IPS display with a 1080p screen resolution and is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4 chipset. It’s running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and has full access to the Google Play Store too. HP is really pushing their customized software bundle that ships with the Slate21 Pro. It comes pre-loaded with the Kingsoft Office Suite and Google Docs/Drive. It also has built-in support for Windows remote access and operation using Citrix Receiver. Citrix XenMobile is packaged in as well, giving the Slate21 the security and multi-user support that corporations will want. Top all of that off with 50 GB of Box.net cloud storage.

The Slate21 Pro has support for a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and comes with a built-in HD webcam. Other details like how much RAM the device ships with, onboard storage options, what type and how many ports it has, etc, aren’t available in HP’s press release or on their website yet.

The Slate21 Pro is designed to be a budget all-in-one, priced at $399 bundled with a mouse and keyboard. That’s about the same price as an entry-level Windows PC or laptop, which is the space where HP will be competing.

The press release says that the device is available right, although just in the U.S. We haven’t been able to find it on HP’s official site yet. There’s a listing, but no other details are provided. A quick search on Amazon doesn’t turn up anything, either. We do expect to see the Slate21 Pro in retail stores and online sometime in the next few weeks. If you’re in the market for an entry-level Android all-in-one, you shouldn’t have long to wait. Check out the full press release for all the details. The HP Slate21 Pro AiO will be available in the United States with a starting price of $399, including keyboard and mouse sometime soon.
