Happy Nexus 5 day! Google’s new flagship Nexus smartphone was announced this morning, and we have every bit of coverage you could want. Today has been all about the release of the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat. The device was announced, we broke down the specs, we even compared the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 4. We have a bunch of new Android 4.4 .apks for you to install if you want, including the new Hangouts update that supports SMS. The Android SDK has been update with 4.4 KitKat, and the factory images and proprietary binaries are available for the Nexus 5 already, too. The day has been absolutely jam-packed, but it’s not over yet.

Before the night is out, make you get your hands on some of these official Nexus 5 wallpapers too. A dev over at XDA Forums has been kind enough to pull these for us, and there’s a .zip file you can download if you want to grab all of the high quality images in one place. We’ve also put them all in the gallery below so you can see what they look like before you download them. Fun, right?

Just to recap, the new Nexus 5 is running on a Snaprdragon 800 SoC with 2 GB of RAM and either 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage, depending on which option you choose. It’s got an 8-megapixel rear camera with OIS, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The 4.95 inch display has a full 1080p resolution, and the 2300 mAh battery should at least get you through a full day of use.

Android 4.4 KitKat is bringing some pretty cool enhancements and should already be available through the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). With support for Bluetooth MAP, audio tunneling, new memory optimizations, and a tweaked user interface; we’re excited to get our hands on some early builds and test them out for you.

You can find the .zip file with all of the Nexus 5 wallpapers here. What do you think of these new wallpapers? Which one is your favorite? Drop us a line in the comments and let us know.
