Google Nexus Site Gets a Redesign and Mentions “Phones” with an S – Could We See Multiple Nexus Phones This Fall?

September 4, 2013 - Written By Alexander Maxham

On Wednesday, Google redesigned the Nexus website, this is just a day after they announced that version 4.4 of Android would be named Kit Kat. After the new statue showed up at the Google campus, and we saw the video of all the Googlers taking pictures of the new statue, we started seeing devices that we had never seen before. So as you might expect, the Nexus rumor season has begun.

Now we’ve noticed that Google has redesigned their Nexus website and you can see from the navigation that it says Search, Home, Phones, Tablets, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Support, and Find a retailer. What’s interesting there is that it says “Phones”, and not just “Phone”. This leads us to believe that we might see multiple Nexus phones this year. Which we heard was going to happen last year, and it really didn’t happen.

My first reaction was maybe they mean the Google Play Edition devices. But when you click on Phones, all you see is the Nexus 4. So if they did mean the HTC One and Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition devices, they’d be listed there now, right? So it looks like maybe we’re due for a couple of Nexus phones this fall. We’ve heard that both LG and Motorola are working on Nexus phones for October. I, personally, am more interested in the Motorola Nexus because I know the battery life is going to be much better than on the LG Nexus. As an existing Nexus 4 user, I know all to well how bad the battery life is.

Keep in mind that this is all speculation, but it’s sound speculation at that. Now that Sony has announced the Xperia Z1 and Samsung with their Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear. It’s now time to shift our focus over to the Nexus 4/5 and the new Nexus 10. Along with the new version of Android that’s coming very soon. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to have a few Kit Kats.
